US 1 / Philips Highway from University Blvd north to I-95

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a resurfacing project on Philips Highway (U.S. 1) from just north of Bowden Road to south of Interstate 95 near downtown September 15.

Duval Asphalt Products, Inc. is the contractor for the $6.2 million project that is anticipated for completion in summer 2015.

The project work begins with JEA utility work just north of University Boulevard followed by drainage improvements, sidewalk repair and traffic signals.  Then, resurfacing begins that involves removal of existing asphalt and repaving.

Daytime lane closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Nighttime lane closures are expected from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday once asphalt paving begins.

Motorists should use caution when traveling through the construction site.  For the safety of our workers, speeding fines are doubled when workers are present as required by state law.
