Duval Asphalt’s Coral Todd Featured on NAPA’s Pave It Black Podcast
Duval Asphalt’s Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Coral Todd, recently joined the National Asphalt Pavement Association’s (NAPA) Pave It Black podcast for a conversation about safety, standards, leadership, and trust in the asphalt pavement industry.

In the Season 11 episode, “Safety, Standards, and Trust: How the Industry Earned Its Credibility,” Coral shares her unconventional path into the asphalt industry and her perspective on how safety has evolved. As an active member of NAPA’s Health and Safety Committee, she brings a practical approach to safety that goes beyond simply enforcing rules.
At the heart of Coral’s philosophy is the belief that “safety is a system of stewardship – protecting people through process.” During the conversation, she discusses her WINS framework for building practical safety improvements from the ground up and the importance of listening to the people closest to the work.
Coral also explores why safety, quality, operations, leadership, and innovation cannot operate in separate lanes. The standards crews hold themselves to every day not only protect employees, but also contribute to stronger operations and greater public trust in the asphalt industry.
Tune in to Pave it Black to hear Coral’s perspective on how protecting people through process, continuously improving, and putting safety into practice can strengthen our people, our operations, and our industry.
