US 1, Callahan to Duval County Line

Resurfacing of U.S. 1 in Nassau County began October 13 from the Duval County line to 5th Avenue in Callahan.

Florida Department of Transportation oversees the project and Duval Asphalt Products, Inc. is the contractor.  The project is expected to be complete summer 2015 at a cost of $5.3 million.

The project includes drainage improvements, sidewalks and concrete work, updating traffic signals and highway signs, updating guardrails, bridge joint repairs, and rebuilding of the road base and shoulders along with repaving.

Work will be performed during the day with weekday lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Anticipate weeknight lane closures from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

Motorists should use caution when traveling through the construction site.  For the safety of our workers, speeding fines are doubled when workers are present as required by state law.
