At approximately 5:50 a.m. there was a traffic accident just west of the Hammond Blvd. exit on I-10 eastbound in Duval County, FL that resulted in a fuel and fluid spill, subsequently causing significant damage to the asphalt roadway. FHP immediately closed the two damaged lanes, leaving only one eastbound lane open, until an asphalt contractor could arrive and replace the damaged pavement.
Duval Asphalt received a call at approximately 8:50 a.m. from Jorgensen Contract services (JCS) requesting our services for the emergency repair. We immediately re-routed and mobilized the necessary equipment and personnel to repair the 50’ by 24’ damaged area. Removal of the damaged asphalt began at 10:45 a.m. The area was then cleaned, prepped, and repaved by two of our crews. All lanes of I-10 eastbound were back open for traffic by 3:00 p.m. – a remarkably quick turnaround for an unscheduled repair! Our team rocks!
