Congratulations to our Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Supervisor, Rebecca Plummer! She has been selected as one of only six recipients out of more than 120 applicants nationwide to receive the 2025 Women of Asphalt x Caterpillar Paving Operations Training Scholarship.
This training program provides hands-on, immersive paving operations training at Caterpillar’s facility in Clayton, North Carolina. It’s an incredible opportunity for emerging leaders in the paving industry to expand their technical expertise and understanding of paving operations.
No stranger to operating heavy equipment, Rebecca worked for a site development company for eight years before joining the Duval Asphalt team. She’s operated skid steers and rollers, pavers, brooms, and even GPS paving and milling systems. That versatility, paired with her work ethic and commitment to continuous learning, makes her such a valuable part of the Duval team.

Rebecca’s career goal is to advance through the company and become Duval Asphalt’s first female paving foreman, and the Caterpillar training will prove valuable in that goal, teaching her not only operational skills but leadership skills as well.
“This scholarship means a lot to me,” she said. “It feels like the first big step toward the next chapter in my career. I’ve learned what it takes to build the foundation — now I’m ready to learn the final product, the icing on the cake. And what better way to hit the ground running than being accepted to the Caterpillar training program on paving operations?” She plans to bring the techniques, skills, and knowledge she learns from the Caterpillar training back to the paving crews. She hopes as she learns from them, they will be able to learn from her as well!
Rebecca’s enthusiasm for her work is matched only by her love of the outdoors. When she’s not on a jobsite, you’ll likely find her near the water — boating, fishing, tubing, or jet skiing. “Anything fun in the sun!” she said.
