Duval Asphalt Safety Committee Wraps Up Q1 and Looks to Q2

Duval Asphalt closed out the first quarter with a Safety Committee lunch. In attendance were members from the field crews, maintenance shop, plant operations, office staff and the ATS quality control team. All fifteen committee members were present, so each area and department of the company was represented. In daily operations, each department focuses on its own responsibilities, so the team members tend to work in silos. This meeting facilitated the opportunity for everyone to learn what other departments are facing.

During the meeting the group defined expectations for the second quarter. The committee also discussed the new management system they are implementing and set expectations to continue to identify, prevent, and mitigate risk.  They reviewed the recordable incident that occurred earlier in the quarter and discussed the corrective actions and preventative measures set in place.  The meeting concluded with the new way of logging deficiencies to capture trends, improve on controls, and to sustain the progress as Duval Asphalt continues to shift the safety culture throughout its entire organization.
